Georgia-Pacific Accounting Apprenticeship Program

The Georgia-Pacific (GP) Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity for people from any background or experience level to gain education and hands-on experience that could lead to a full-time accounting role with GP. Professionals from both WSU Tech and GP guide you through an accelerated, individualized program in Atlanta, Georgia. All coursework will be completed online – and pacing is flexible. You can work 20-40 hours a week, depending on your schedule.

Georgia-Pacific, a Koch company, will cover most coursework expenses through WSU Tech, where students focus on foundational business and accounting concepts. Students will also receive complementary instruction covering Koch’s management philosophy, Principle Based Management™. During the paid apprenticeship, students will complete their remaining WSU Tech coursework while also working alongside GP accountants and tax professionals.

Application Process

Submit your application by February 15.

Interviews will be held March 21 and 22, and selected candidates will be notified by March 24.

Individual Course Plan Assessment

Complete your foundational coursework offered through WSU Tech. This is a full-time student commitment until all foundational coursework is completed.

Apprenticeship Placement

Upon completion of your foundational coursework, the paid apprenticeship begins with Georgia-Pacific (20-40 hours each week, depending on your schedule). You will continue remaining coursework part time until completed.

Program Completion

Apprenticeship program participants become eligible to be considered for full-time employment with Georgia-Pacific or another Koch company.

GP will cover all foundational coursework expenses for individuals accepted into the program. Apprentices will be paid during their employment through the apprenticeship placement.

Those who successfully complete the program and receive a full-time employment offer will be eligible for company benefits and receive competitive compensation. This compensation is inclusive of a signing bonus sufficient to offset residual education-related expenses.

• Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Starting in Spring 2023, be able to meet the demands of a full-time student and be enrolled in the WSU Tech Accounting Certificate Program
• Availability to work at least 20 hours per week during the apprenticeship period with intent to pursue full-time employment with GP after successful completion of all required coursework and satisfactory apprenticeship performance

• Initiative, natural curiosity, strong communication skills and an aptitude for fast-paced learning
• A passion to drive action, solve problems and capture value
• Strong critical thinking and entrepreneurial skills
